Home Network Information

The initial aim of the home network is to setup and configure a server as the the central hub which will act as a gateway, print and file server, web development server, backup system etc.
Connected to this will be numerous machines ranging from desktop pc through to laptops, and various music video devices.

The specifications for the server at this stage are:
Pentium D Dual Core 3.4Ghz
ASUS PK5PL-CM Motherboard
2 Gig DDR2 Memory
1 x 32 Gig 10K rpm raptor
1 x 1TB Western Digital Green
2 x PCI 10/100 network cards.

OS is Centos 5.3 x64

Currently I've got this and my desktop PC connected to a Netcomm NB6Plus4W wireless modem / router giving both systems direct access to the internet during initial setup and configeration.

Later this will be replaced with a simple ADSL modem and then reconnected as a wireless router on the second ethernet adapter once the gateway is configured.

I am hoping to upgrade memory to 4 Gig and to change network hardware to 1GB cards and 108MB/s wireless. At this stage the setup was built from scrap parts found in the second hand parts bin, except for the 1TB drive which is new.
